Overall a really good effort throughout the game.

Positives

- Good team effort.

- Some good passing.

- You trying your best going despite the score right to the end.

Learning points

- We must attack the ball when heading

- When somebody is going to shoot we need to get close and block the shot

A disappointing first half, much better effort in the 2nd.

Positives

We proved in the 2nd Half the the right approach to game makes a big difference.

Learning Points

We need to work on basics, keeping your eye on the ball, looking up when passing.

Captains player of the match - Ryan, excellent defending and talking to the rest of the team.

Coaches player of the match - Avi, for the same reasons as Ryan.

Excellent first half performance, we just need to carry that into the whole game.

Positives

- Good team play in the first half, we created several chances against a good side

- We need to keep trying our best right to the end

- Defenders need to ensure they don't play the other team on side

- Use the ball in midfield, look up and pass.

Our second half performance was one of our best for a couple seasons. Good passing, everyone played in their position, strong tackling.

The entrance Lowfield Road is on the B4014 Tetbury to Avening road about 3/4 mile out of Tetbury on the right hand side. Signposted 'Leisure Centre'

Follow the road on through to the end [about 1/4 mile]and the SWR School entrance can be found on the right. Parking is on the right as you enter the school premises.

Excellent game, passed the ball very well making 100 passes which equalled our previous record.

Positives

We passed the ball well
Created lots of chances

Learning Points

When you have a tight angle to shoot at goal pull the ball back to other players
Keep to your positions, the 2nd goal was conceded because of this.

Captains Player of the Match - Gareth, worked really hard for the team, chased back and made tackles and showed good skill in beating players.

Coaches Player of the Match - Harry, played the midfield position really well, not only won lots of tackles but also passed the ball well.

Excellent all round performance, when attacking you all made good use of the ball, some of the passing moves were the best I have seen from the team.

Positives

Excellent all round effort from every player in the team
Good simple passing made all the difference to our attacking play.

Learning Points

We need to charge down the other teams shots rather than stand back and watch.
Timing of our tackles is key, we will work on this in training.

Captains Player of the match - Ben - Didn't give up chasing the ball against the other teams defence and made a goal with a good pass.

Coaches Player of the Match - Keilan - Made some excellent tackles plus made good use of the ball with his passes.

Everyone needs to head to attack the ball at defensive corners, too many players avoid the ball.

Playing football requires everybody to tackle and try their best, not enough players did that today. We must never play like that again. I expect every player to try their best from the start to the end of every game, no matter what the score.

Positives

Improvement in the 2nd half performance

Learning Points

The right attitude is needed from arrival to start training to the kick off of the game
No matter how you are playing you should always try your best

John Reeves - Tried his best, made lots of tackles and used the ball well

Coaches player of the match

Guy Berwick - Put a lot of effort into the game, chased back, helped the forwards, made some good tackles.

A closely fought game, some good passing at times in the game.

Positives

We created a good number of chances
Some excellent saves by Jonny
New way of playing in defence is working well
Goalline clearance from a corner because the defenders were in the right place

Learning Points

In defence players have to make a decision, if you don't it creates problems and is how we lost the first goal.
Midfield need to defend first, attack second.
From our goal kicks, midfield need to be nearer to our goal than the other team.

Coaches Player of the match - John for an excellent display in midfield, won countless tackles, passed the ball well and nearly scored with a long range shot.

Captains Player of the match - Gareth for a very good goal and working hard for the team in both attack and defence showing good skill and passing the ball at the right times.

also dominating the pitch with his superb, crucial passes and saving securing our win with

Positives

We started well in both first and second half competing well for the ball
Everybody stuck to their position and tracked back
Good use of the ball and simple passing

Learning Points

To play from the start with the same attitude every game. Win or lose, the game is much more enjoyable as you all said afterwards when you give your best from start to the end of the game.
We were caught off side far too many times

Captains Player of the match -Keir, excellent performance in front of the defence, cut out lots of attacks and used the ball well when he won the tackles.

"Bradley was my 'man of the match' today as he played very well and didnt give up during the whole game. He played his best and didnt back away from any tackles. The rest of the team played better in the second half. We need to play our best from the start of the match and always be 'good sportsmen' even when we are losing"

- Take the next right (by the Cold Harbour Pub) into the B4019

- Take 2nd left into Sams Lane

- Take left into Churchill

- Follow directions to the School (there is limited parking, you may need to park in the road outside).

We struggled in the first half against a good Purton team but put in an excellent 2nd half with all the team making good tackles. It would have been easy to give up but you didn't and deserve a lot of praise for the effort made in the 2nd half.

Positives

2nd half performance was as you said after the game one of our best displays
Great individual skill from Bradley and Gareth to score their goals
Good response to the half time feedback, you listened and did what was asked

Learning Points

We can't allow players to have free shots at goal from the edge of the 18 yard box, the majority of goals came from that position.
Start the game in future the way we played in the 2nd half.

Coaches Player of the match - Harry for in particular an excellent 2nd half display in the defensive midfield position

Captains Player of the match -Bradley - Worked really hard for the team tackling back and also showing excellent skill for his goal.

As we discussed at training a really disappointing performance, as you said some players gave up which let the rest of the team down especially Jonny in goal.

- Each player must give maximum effort from the start to the end, if you do that whatever the score you are a winner, if you don't you let your team and yourself down.

An excellent first half performance against the joint top team in the league. We struggled in the 2nd half but with injuries we were virtually playing with 10 players which made it very tough against a good side.

Positives

Excellent first half performance, all the team sticking to their positions
You all kept trying your best right to the end of the game

Learning Points

Never to throw the ball out to defenders
Go with the runners rather than ball watching (we will work on this in training)

Hi Rob,

I just thought I would send you a note to congratulate your team, supporters and yourself in respect of the manner in which the game was played yesterday.

I thought it was a thrilling and very open end to end game yesterday which any team could have won. It was really refreshing to see your teams and their supporters attitude to the game. They were all enthusiastic, ever encouraging and never question/criticising any referring decisions or each other. Sadly these days this is so unusual at many of the youth games.

Well done Wanborough you show the spirit in which all junior football should be played!

For the team to be two goals down so early on but not to give up and get back into the game said a lot about your determination, a really good team performance.

The first 25 minutes was the best we have played at 11 a side against an excellent Croft team. It was a tough game but the key point was that we didn't give up right to the end.
